Purpose

What this tool does

This width and height resizer lets you enter exact pixel dimensions. Choose contain to preserve the whole image, crop-to-fill to fill a new aspect ratio without distortion, or stretch only when the destination requires exact dimensions and distortion is acceptable. You can enter the dimensions or file-size limit needed by your form. Processing happens entirely on your device β€” your image is decoded, resized, compressed, and prepared for download without being uploaded to any server.

Output

Supported formats and output

Upload JPG, PNG, or WebP. Choose JPG for broad form compatibility and smaller files, WebP where it is accepted, or PNG when transparency and lossless output matter more than an exact KB target.

The result card reports the actual pixel dimensions, format, and file size rather than assuming the target was reached. You can verify the output before downloading.

Detailed instructions

How to use it

  1. 1

Choose a local JPG, PNG, or WebP image from your device or camera.

  2. 2

Review and adjust the dimensions and crop position to frame your subject without stretching.

  3. 3

Select the output format, tap Prepare Image, verify the result visually, and download it to your device.

Before uploading

Common limitations

Cropping to a different aspect ratio removes edge content, while stretching can distort the subject. Crop-to-fill is recommended when the image must fill the frame; contain preserves the whole image and adds transparent or background-colored space when the proportions differ.

Very large photos can exceed a phone's available memory. If processing fails, try a smaller source image. PNG cannot be compressed by changing quality like JPG or WebP.

Privacy

Private browser processing

Your selected image is decoded, resized, compressed, and downloaded locally in your browser. Normal tool operation does not upload the image or its original filename to our server. The processed result stays on your device until you choose to save or share it.

Practical guidance

Choosing the right width, height, and fit mode

Width and height determine an image's pixel dimensions and aspect ratio. Use contain when every part of the source must remain visible. Use crop-to-fill when the result must completely fill a different shape, such as turning a landscape photo into a square; this removes some edge content but does not distort the subject. Stretch forces the exact dimensions by changing the source proportions, so circles and faces may look too wide or narrow. After resizing, inspect the preview and confirm the actual dimensions shown on the result card. For identification portraits, the passport size photo resizer also provides crop and KB controls.

Frequently asked questions

How do I change an image's width and height?

Choose an image, enter the required width and height in pixels, select contain, crop-to-fill, or stretch, then prepare and verify the result before downloading it.

What is the difference between contain and crop-to-fill?

Contain preserves the entire image without distortion but may leave unused space. Crop-to-fill fills the requested width and height without distortion by removing some content from the edges.

How can I keep the original aspect ratio?

Use contain, or calculate a matching height when you change the width. For example, a 1200 Γ— 800 image has a 3:2 ratio, so 600 Γ— 400 keeps the same shape.

Does changing pixel dimensions change the file size?

Usually. Fewer pixels often produce a smaller file, but the final size also depends on image detail, output format, and quality. Check the actual KB value shown on the result card.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. Normal resizing runs locally in your browser, and the selected image is not uploaded to our server.
