Publishing an app requires navigating a maze of specific image requirements. Both Apple and Google frequently update their guidelines, and submitting the wrong dimensions can lead to immediate rejection.

Google Play Store (Android)

Google has streamlined some of their requirements, but getting the core assets right is still crucial.

  • App Icon: 512 Γ— 512 pixels. Must be a 32-bit PNG with an alpha channel (transparency). Max file size is 1024 KB.
  • Feature Graphic: 1024 Γ— 500 pixels. Must be a JPEG or 24-bit PNG with no transparency. This is required for all apps.
  • Screenshots: Minimum dimension 320 px, maximum 3840 px. The max dimension cannot be more than twice the minimum dimension. Standard sizes are 1080 Γ— 1920 (Portrait).

Apple App Store (iOS)

Apple requires assets tailored to their specific device screen sizes.

  • App Icon: 1024 Γ— 1024 pixels. Must be flattened (no transparency) PNG. Apple automatically applies their standard mask.
  • 6.5-inch iPhone Screenshots: 1284 Γ— 2778 pixels (Portrait) or 2778 Γ— 1284 (Landscape).
  • 12.9-inch iPad Pro Screenshots: 2048 Γ— 2732 pixels (Portrait) or 2732 Γ— 2048 (Landscape).

To avoid rejection, ensure your App Store screenshots are strictly flattened with no alpha channel, and your Play Store icons utilize the alpha channel correctly.
